At The Imaging Center, we are proud to offer ultrasounds to the residents of Kentwood and the surrounding communities. No matter what the reason is that you need an ultrasound, we will be with you every step of the way. With the use of high-frequency sound waves, we can take a look at your soft tissues, organs, and blood vessels, and help your doctor determine the best course of treatment for you.
An ultrasound, also known as a sonography, is a quick, non-invasive imaging scan that uses high-frequency sound waves to allow your technician to see what’s going on inside your body. It works best for looking at soft tissues, blood flow, and internal organs. While it’s most often used for pregnancy, it can be used to look at pelvic, vascular, and thyroid concerns. On average, it can take anywhere from 20-45 minutes.
During the scan, you’ll lie down on the exam table, and a water-based gel will be applied to the area. From there, the handheld device (called a transducer) will be glided over your skin, and the images will be produced onto a separate screen for the technician to look at and analyze.
At The Imaging Center, we use the GE Logiq E9 scanner, which features an ergonomic design and advanced scan assist technology to deliver high-quality images quickly.
Ultrasounds are for almost everyone. Your doctor will most likely recommend that you have an ultrasound. From there, you can schedule an appointment at The Imaging Center. Ideal candidates for an ultrasound have a condition that needs to be looked at or are looking for imaging that doesn’t include radiation.
If you are pregnant, experiencing abdominal pain, need to check your blood flow, and/or are needing to find the cause of pelvic pain, an ultrasound can be the perfect tool. Beyond that, there are so many uses for ultrasound imaging.
